| This photo shows one of not many sleeping quarters of Liberty Ship Jeremiah O'Brien. Space being at a premium, there were not bunks for all crew members. Thus, these are referred to as "hot bunks."
When a shift ended, sleeping crew members got up and went to their stations and those being relieved would climb into a bunk -- thus the term "hot bunk." A City Birds digital photo. |
