Each year, thanks to Friends of the Urban Forest, San Francisco's Urban Forest thickens.  An old brick elementary school in City Birds Country, the Heart of San Francisco, which has never known the caress of trees, is now surrounded by seedling Strawberry Trees.  In future years young students will look out the windows and see leaves of green -- and, hopefully, songbirds.  Digital photo by City Birds.
