Fort Miley
Fort Miley, San Francisco, was a shore battery down the road from Fort Winfield Scott and was under the command of Fort Scott.  Now Fort Miley is a large VA Medical Center and the best friend to America's veterans living in and around San Francisco.

The land was bought by the U.S. Army in 1893 and construction of the battery began in 1899.  The Fort was named for Lt. Col. John D. Miley who died in Manila during our War with Spain.
