Mission Dolores, San Francisco

A view of Missión San Francisco de Asís (Mission Dolores) and the adjacent Basilica, San Francisco.

Mission Dolores, founded June 29, 1776, is located at the northern terminus of el Camino Real as envisioned by Father Junípero Serra.  The Catholic Church and the Spanish Army carved out the mission path and, with the help of Native Americans, built the missions and associated utility buildings and housing.
