Union Square, San Francisco
Union Square, which acquired its name from labor movement demonstrations held in the area during the early part of the 20th Century, is surrounded by fine hotels, such as the St. Francis seen here.  Fine stores also abound.  The centerpiece of Union Square is the Navy Monument, the Corinthian column seen to the right of this picture.  A City Birds digital photo.
