Merritt Wildlife Refuge, Spring 2010
June 15, 2010 -- NOTE: Five new photos of Lake Merritt wildlife have been added. They include Canada Geese, a Great Egret and a charming photo of a Squirrel and a Canada Goose facing off over a nut.
May 28, 2010 -- Lake Merritt is located in downtown Oakland, California and is home to the first wildlife refuge in the United States. It is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a variety of wild birds and friendly Squirrels.
This post shows the beautiful American White Pelicans of the Lake Merritt Wildlife Refuge, Oakland, California, during mating season, Spring 2010. Also included are some photos of other Lake Merritt birds including the Brown Pelican which is one of many victims of the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. The post ends with a couple pictures of a Squirrel enjoying Spring at Lake Merritt.
